Mobile bin business owners are looking for a local location to host their mobile pedicures.
The business owners have to know what they’re looking for.
“There’s a lot of options to choose from, but I would say the biggest thing that I’m looking for is a location that is accessible by public transportation,” said Kelly Kielly.
“If you’re just going to walk, a lot less people will be coming to the area,” said Karen Miller.
For the past few years, Kiellys has been making a point to make sure her mobile pedi-cleaning business is accessible to everyone, and that means not just people with disabilities.
“I think that accessibility is really important,” said Kiella.
“Because we’ve been able to see the changes that have been made in our communities that we can relate to, so to speak, that accessibility, I think is really a huge benefit for us,” said Miller.
“Accessibility is something that we all know and understand, and I think for some people that’s really the difference in what kind of business they’re going to be able to do,” said Erin O’Connor.
“It’s really about the people who need it, and if you can provide that service to them then I think it’s going to really help the community in terms of accessibility.”
O’Connor’s mobile pedis are made from a synthetic material called polyurethane that she says is very strong and lightweight, which means they can be cleaned quickly and easily.
But she says the business owners aren’t necessarily concerned about being able to use public transportation, they’re concerned about getting the job done safely.
“You don’t have to be in a wheelchair to be effective, and the more people that are using these, the more effective they will be,” said O’Connell.
“And if we can get them to use those services and get the job right the community is going to benefit.”
O&G says it has installed 3,000 mobile pedists across the country to date.
They are the only company that can offer mobile pedies for both home and office use.
The company also offers a number of other services including personal grooming, mobile pedie services, cleaning of a small area, and more.
They’re not only offering services for people with mobility issues, they also offer support for people who may be struggling with their own health.
“We see a lot, we see a ton of people who are looking to take advantage of the health benefits of our technology, and so we’re always striving to be there,” said Andrew Southey, chief technology officer of O&G.
“Our goal is to provide that to people that need it.”
The company says its app will soon be available for iPhone and Android.
For now, it only has one location, but that location is just one in the company’s network.
You can download the app on their website.
“They are doing a lot to get mobile pedicles available for everyone, so that is something we’re very proud of,” said Southa.
“But the reality is that we have a lot more people who have mobility issues that we’re not even aware of,” he said.
“In fact, we are still looking for more locations that are accessible for people that can use it safely.”
“Mobile pedicurs are the future,” said Kate Glynn, executive director of the Canadian Association of Home Automobile Industry.
“These people have been in the business for a long time, and they are still doing great work, and we need to continue to support them.”
Glynn says she thinks people will find the company valuable if they use the app.
“What they’re doing is just phenomenal,” she said.
